Blending

I've been getting quite a few requests for this tutorial since I use this technique on quite a few of my blends. This tutorial will show you how to add that vintage feel to an image.

We'll be going from

to this

1. Open up Photoshop and open the image you're going to use in a new document. I'll be using the one below.

2. Once you've picked the image you'll be using, creat a new layer by pressing ctrl+shift+N (Command+Shift+N for Mac) or by going to Layer>>New>>Layer.

3. Now click the paint bucket tool and fill the layer with a dark navy blue. I am using #000d86.

4. Next, we'll set the layer mode to Exclusion, as seen below.

5. With the image I used, it looked best at 65% opacity, but you can mess with the opacity until the image is to your liking. That's all there really is to it, so I hope this helps (:

If you used the image I provided and followed the tutorial exactly, you should get this result. (:

If you have any questions, you can comment in the cbox. If you found this tutorial helpful, or used it for another image, I'd love to see your result, so do post the link in the cbox or on the blog, thanks! (:
